Convicted with DWI in New Jersey in may 2005 (I was off duty using my car not a Taxi )  My driver license was suspended for 7 months ...After this period I went to TLC to renew my  Hack license who expired in the meantime I had to fill up the forms all over pay the fees...some unpaid tickets... etc...and because of the DWI I had to see a judge for a hearing She denied my renewal.Financially and emotionally It has been l hell  for me and my family (wife +2 babies).It was a single mistake now I drive my car for the last 3 years not even a parking ticket since septembre 2005 .What can I do to get back the job that I learned to love? I miss my job man ! I was driving in the City for over 3 years and I was good at it ...never a complaint from the customers(okay maybe a few :-)} but many good experiences It was long hours but I felt kind of freedom like being my own boss.. Now I'm full of debts swinging from a  job to another who barely pay the rent.Please help anyone who had the same experience or someone who knows what to do and where to goThank you in advance.

1) First AA, if you are not clean. Frankly I'd rather see you not driving at all until you deal with your problem.

2) Get a Jersey license, get an abstract, then re-apply for a new Hack license using your Jersey license after 1 year. It might fly under the radar.

3) And if you drive drunk while in a cab or anywhere else and you encounter me, I'll break the bottle over your head myself,

First I wanted to thank you for taking time to answer and try to help...Now I understand your anger but trust me I 'm more responsable that it seems It was the day of my birthday (I know it's not a excuse) but hey it happened there is nothing i can do now, only regret it.And I will never dare to work intoxicated.It's just not me.

I was thinking about hiring a lawyer (anyone knows a good one ?)and apply again with my new york license It has been 3 years and half now TLC really need to give me a break don't you think ?Since the DWI I took some classes and did a program just to show them that drinking is not an issue and no i'm not in denial I just don't have a driking problem. Even the counselor were asking me why I was doing the program i just dont fit the criteria what can I say!

There is that Spivak guy who always advertises in the Taxi papers. You can pick up one outside of most brokerages. Pearland, the one I usually deal with, has it there, as do most garages.
