Traffic ticket HOT-SPOTS...

Hey fellow drivers,

As NYC taxi-cab drivers, our main objective is to "make money." Unfortunately, we are set back and our income reduced with the city's objective to "make money." How? TICKETS. The city generates millions of dollars by ticketing it's motorists. One way to make our job easier is to know the rules and regulations of the city streets. I want this post to be an information post for all hard working NYC taxi-cab drivers. Please provide any useful information: hot-spots to be aware of tickets, new noticed street signs/ rules, etc...

Cheers.

Re: Traffic ticket HOT-SPOTS...

Example #1....becareful with FDR (north) coming out of battery park tunnel; as you approach the Brooklyn Bridge underpass...Highway patrol#1 frequently there with speed gun....guys SLOW DOWN..i think 30 or 40 MPH is limit.

Example #2...becareful with broadway near spring street and prince street. Police officers waiting to pull you over when you sneak into the bus lane. Stay in your lane and be patient! It is not worth it.

Example #3... becareful with redlight camera (Receive nice ticket in your mail;) (1) East Houston St at Allen Street and First Avenue, in both directions: East and West. When you see yellow light= stop! (2) Joe Dimaggio HWY at West Houston Street- going south. (3) Joe Dimaggio HWY at 14 street- going south.

GUYS, let's share all our traffic knowledge; because knowledge is power to make clean income;)

Re: Traffic ticket HOT-SPOTS...

Here's another one: Becareful of the tunnel underneath the United Nations. Police officers with speed gun waiting for you to exit tunnel. Guys, SLOW DOWN!

Also: East Houston Street right off the FDR (South) service road. There's a stop sign there...so make a full stop! Police officers wait behind the wall/ highway sign and get you as you pass through the stop sign=(.........not worth it guys.

Also: FDR (South) try to skip automobile line exiting FDR on Brooklyn Bridge exit. Police officers waiting there to get you for being inpatient. Not worth it!

Re: Traffic ticket HOT-SPOTS...

Taxi2009 really covered many potential "Hot-spots." GREAT JOB! Thanks.

CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THE THROUGH-STREETS (In the Mid-town area) RULES & REGULATIONS??

WHAT ARE THE TIMES AND STREETS AFFECTED?

Thanks to all.

Re: Traffic ticket HOT-SPOTS...

wow,

What can I say. This is great that you guys are telling each other where the tickets are being issued now.

I am Michael Spevack, Esq.

I am an attorney helping drivers in the yellow business since 1996.

I would like to add that in addition to the trouble spots I have noticed that the police are issuing multiple summonses for the same stop at record numbers.

That means if you get pulled over for improper turn, that they give you a lane change and signal for 3 tickets instead of just one.

I think police commanders are putting pressure on the cops to hand out more tickets and the cops figure it is easier to bang out multiple tickets then to write summonses for 3 different people. Better to just hand 3 tickets to 1 person.

I almost never charge a higher fee if you get multiple summonses for this reason.

You can email me if you have any questions at michaelspevack@gmail.com

Thanks,

Mike Spevack
