Taxi drivers should get a break with their traffic tickets for small voilations
Being Taxi driver is most likely being exposed to the traffice violations than any one else, as we all do this for living 12 hours a day, going through tremendous stress! One traffice voilation in the city, wipes out our day's earnings. This ain't about our fellow agressive drivers who speed through crowded streets, not obeying redlight and put pedestrians in danger. I'm talking about professional drivers who often accidentaly get in to small traffic voilations. I think we should get a break with the tickets and points as it effects our license. Also these tickets get accumulated over the time who doesn't take of it, then we seek lawyer who often charge us a fortune. Isn't it too much for our lives to deal with a lawyer for just traffic tickets. Especially when we are going through economic crisiss. TLC chief and mayor needs to understand this, instead of looking this as a revenue to the city. Its an issue for us. I encourage to reais your voice to the mayor

Re: Taxi drivers should get a break with their traffic tickets for small voilations
I give you a good idea? try to get a new jersey driver license not ny driver license then no point can go to your record because the maximum points from outstate trafic violations for new jersey state is 2points example speed ticket : with ny lic is 8 points if you have a nj lic ,and speed ticket in ny ,you get, only 2 point and with smal violation ,it will never show up on your record because violations are outsate violations ok ,so get nj lic and drive in ny

Being "professional" drivers holds us to a higher standard than the average driver. As it should be..If you know what you are doing is in violation then you deserve the ticket..be the professional and hold yourself to the higher standard and you wont get the tickets you are whining about.

Re: Taxi drivers should get a break with their traffic tickets for small voilations
The last poster behind me has to be a newbie. Wait until he gets nailed a few times wearing his 'yellow suit' while others sail away free and clear he might change his mind. Just the other night, a bus blocked the interesection because a private car was in the busstop, and the yetllow car behind the bus didn't want to block the intersection, so weaved around the bus to get past the intersection. So who got the ticket? Not the private car in the bustop. Not the bus blocking the intersection. Of course, it was the yellow cab, trying to get around the bus blocked by the car that he could not see. How fair is that???
