Do you tip the Doorman for an Airport ride?

Hello there, I am a new driver and just dont understand why we should tip the doorman for an Airport ride. I came to realize driver must tip the doorman $5 for JFK, Newark and $3 for a LGA. This is utterly B***l Sh**t illegal bribery and federal crime. All you have to say is i will report you to the Federal Burea of Investigations and to you Hotel management. Please do fight against this bro... do not give away your hard working money. let's be united..

Re: Do you tip the Doorman for an Airport ride?

There are only a few hotels that you have to tip the doorman for airport trips, for example the tudor hotel, hyatt, etc... I think it's worth it. If you happen to pull up to a hotel at random and the doorman gives you a airport trip you shouldn't tip him. However, if your car is parked, and the doorman is screening the local trips from the airport trips FOR YOU, he's doing a service, and deserves to be tipped. Sometimes, you can tell him you want a JFK or Newark and he'll give it to you. A trip to the airport at the right time of day can mean a big difference in the money you take home at the end of your shift.

Good services deserve good tips.

nshllh, I understand the Doorman is doing an exellent service as wel as so do i? Am i responsible for Doormans salary? Who would pay for my risk waiting there for an goin home airport job which is not guarateed? Once the passenger decide to take a cab its between you and the passenger. Dont think people are taking a cab just because they loves you. You know very well. If i am looking for only Airports and good jobs before going home. Yes!!! its damn worth it to bribe the doorman. But that is consider to me stealing a job from a another hard working driver.

Very simple body, if you don't "tip" the another cabbie will and happilly pocket your fare. Wake up bro, thereis no cabbing anymore in NYC it's just straight up hustling. The sad part is that apart from the very rare real NYC cabbies  this industry have been invaded and choked by a new generation of straight up hungry foreigner that are lamentably used to the corruption system back home. By bribing a dorman a dispatcher the mechanic they sell all of us so cheap I dont know how they dont see that its their submissive acts that have everyone treating us with no respect. ow my friend do you understand why you tip the dorman because your brother already put a price on you.

i agree with alger...........he's ryte....theres hungry cabbies out there who will go nuts to grab your fair from you....they will beat the lights...they will make a illegal turns they will do anything for even a $5 fair...and in the case of airport fair? they will even s*k doormans ***. these are the people who started giving $ to the doormans....n now they are use to...so the best thing is since TLC is not taking care of this issue even they kno wats goen on theres nothing you cant do bro...the only thing you can do is ignore those hotels...dont even go there...

When is a good time to go to the hotel for a day driver. I usually work the streets but I get burned out for the picking and dropping. I see guys hanging out at the hotels and it looks much easier but I don't know any door men and the lines usually look long.

Re: Do you tip the Doorman for an Airport ride?

Don't pay shit to the doorman. Only go there when it is raining or cold, and you are the only one. He will be grateful enough you are there.

You basically sell out your soul for what, $5? Why did you get into this business? So that you could have some freedom! And you let it go for what, $5? Besides, often times they want to give you an airport ride at 4:30 in the afternoon. Is it worth it? Hardly. You can make 45 much easier in the city, without your soul being corrupted.

Besides, those hotel workers get a salary, benefits, AND the people tip them, AND often they will sell the ride anyway to a black car because those guys give them $10 instead of the $5 we are 'supposed' to give them. So not only are you paying them to do their own job, you are not paying them enough, and their is ABSOLUTELY no loyalty to you. So f*** them, only take airports when you want to, when you can get out their easy, and when you don't have to tip. Otherwise, use the always good, "shift change" excuse, and let them screw themselves.

Independence is worth more than $5.

Re: Do you tip the Doorman for an Airport ride?

that`s why I never stop at the hotels on a rainy day, just to make those door men sweat for their corrupted souls. I`ll never give them a dime for a fare.
