Hello fellow drivers,
This morning I picked up a fare from upper west side at 6.15 am going south for like 15 blocks.
Once I started the meter, he told me the meter is wrong, it should be $0.50 extras not $1 in extras , which he was absolutely right.
I apologized and told him that this is not my car it belongs to the garage and I get almost different car everyday and on top of that you are my first customer after 6 am so there was no way I could figure out that this meter is wrong.
I also told him that I will give cut 50 cent 50 from the final fare.
It seemed like he didn't believe me and didn't replied back.
the total fare was 4.70 but I asked him for 4.20 he handed me 5 singles and asked for a receipt then told me that If I was aware that it's also my responsibility and what just happened is illegal.
He showed me the receipt and said ''it's for the report'' and left, he seemed pretty serious.
My license is new and it's my second month driving and I guess you all know that TLC is very strict when it comes to new drivers.
I picked up the next fare after 5 min and the meter was fine and was only showing $0.50 extras which it's supposed to and I also kept the receipt for that transaction.
What will happen if he does report?
