Never change your engine oil- new technology will save money and time
There is a new product out that will eliminate oil changes.  It refines oil and keeps it pure indefinitely.  Its a few hundred dollars, but once you have it, it can be moved from car to car.  Its been tested, and really does work.

How often do you guys change your oil?  Does it take time out of your shift? Cost you $?  I'm wondering, and would be grateful for any information.

NYC really cares about the environment when it comes to Taxis, It seems like this product could be beneficial to the drivers as well.

I'd love your input, Thanks

Re: Never change your engine oil- new technology will save money and time

Oil is recycled, so it's not like a garage is just going to dump it in a storm drain. Oil breaks down after a while, and depending on the condition of the engine, it's also consumed. That alone would warrant oil changes.

The only thing I could think of that would do something like this would be some kind of filter system that you replace constantly and some kind of additive package that would be added every so often, but that would be based off an used oil analysis, but that usually costs the same, if not more then an oil change, and you usually have to mail it away.

It's a good idea, but right now I'd think it's wishful thinking at best.

Actually Ask_the_shack, oil only breaks down when contaminants are present...like solid particles, liquids, EGR gases, and acid.  Its a misconception that heat breaks oil down...it will only break dirty oil down.   Additives never expire from clean oil as well.  Also oil analysis is cheap, less than $20 and is performed 20,000ish miles...not as often as you might think.  That analysis really helps with your warranty as well.

I have been looking into this technology for my personal car and I came up with every argument against, but after looking into it have been proven wrong.  With oil prices this high, I wonder if we will see more discussion on oil changes.  From my personal research there is only one that actually refines oil and takes all contaminants out...Petrosavers... www.allgreenoilrefiner.com

Wonder that you think.-

Sorry for the late reply, it's not just oil consumption and contaminants you have to think about, it's things like metal shavings and what not (unless you consider that part of contamination). Sure an oil analysys is good but if it costs as much as an oil change, what's the point?

I would consider getting one done more then every 20K miles. If you've done reserch that says that oil doesn't break down, I'll take your word for it but eventually you'll need to add additives that either burn off or that coat the internal workings of the engine and will need to be replaced.

Oil is cheap insurance and I'm sure they're dirt cheap for cabbies. What's $15 every month for a cabbie?
