Unemployment / Driving a yellow cab
Hi Guys, Hope somebody can answer this. Currently i'm collecting unemployment. I am wondering if by working in a yellow cab i will lose my unemployment. Back in the days when we didn't have credit cards meaning no computers or any type of tracking. Many people used to collect and work on the side.
My fear is that the TCL probably shares information with the unemployment office. Though every would think they do so with the IRS but so far there is still many cabbies reporting they make 15000 a year when in some cases they might make 60000.
If you have any information it will be greatly appreciated.

to those with single status making less than 20.000 dlrs a year and those maried making less than 36.000 dlrs should and must collect unemplyement even you work .i believe all cab drivers must go for unemployement benefits .because driving a yellow is beneficial for the city and the puplic not for drivers anymore.and we must collect money from the city in order for a driver to stay in the job.but i see no more drivers coming in to this business once they try for the first day they quit the job.in the future will be hard for the city to find drivers. keep in mind to tell them in case of something happened ,tell them that you work 12 hours a day and make only 50 dlrs a day and you are under paid with no benifits or heath care,and you give more than you take.driving a cab in nyc is a lost.i do collect unemployement too and drive a cab.. |

are you under paid .
if yes ,you are under paid so by the law you can apply for unemployement .in order to stay in the edge. all cab drivers are under paid. |

NO NO brother, stop driving Yellow cab if you are collecting unemployment. That is serious matter. They arrested taxi drivers in a garage in Queens were doing that and if you still not citizen yet you could loose your Green card. The problem of filling income tax you mentioned IRS can ask back money if it found out, also health insurance they can cut it off but when it comes to collecting money it's a big NO pleaaaas
