Zshadd91 (4 Posts) 12/6/2011 5:21:11 PM	TLC is robbing me without a gun Cry For Help. I am of 20 years of age and driving a yellow cab to help feed my family. I received a letter today after work from the TLC Legal Division stating that I am in violation of TLC rule 54-15(f)(2). Written in this letter is $21,800 in fines, with a settlement offer of $3,815. Stating that I failed to use a EZ-Pass or EZ-Pass rate, and charged the full amount because I did pay cash at all toll crossing with the agreement of all passengers due to the fact that I was not provided with an Ez-Pass tag. I drove for Avenue M Management Corp that did not have a EZ-Pass tag equipped in their car. I did not have a personal tag due to the fact that I did not have a credit card or bank account how was I suppose to get one. The garage I worked for did not provide one. How does this end up being my fault is it not the Avenue M Management's?, Not all have credit cards or debit cards to hold funds in their account to be eligible for an Ez-Pass tag. If anyone is reading this please if you have any advice or help to offer please respond back because this truly is a cry for help. I do not have this type of money to pay, Along with a family to provide for. TLC is robbing me without a gun and I don't know what to do please help!

transmission (31 Posts) 12/8/2011 9:19:54 AM	Re: TLC is robbing me without a gun try to contact the new york taxi workers alliance.but dont pay a cent for them your garage is respnsible for providing an ezpass attached to the cab if the cab belongs to them but if the car is yours you must have your own ezpass .tlc must provide its own inspector to each garage during shift change .drivers do drive and dont know how rules works even most of them dont understand policies .tlc is driving to dead end .they dont make money anymore.and the only safe way for them is ripoff these poor cabies.I heard that the tlc justice system is full of * and * who hate taxi drvers. we must fight back.in order to have some dignity . to all driver ,get ready .

Taxi! (27 Posts) 12/9/2011 7:14:13 PM	Re: TLC is robbing me without a gun The rule states that a driver shall not operate a cab without an EZ Pass so it is no defense that they did not supply one. The TLC position will be that you should not have driven it, though they should also be fining the management company for sending out a cab without a tag. How did you manage to charge the full toll? The meter system I use will only add the EZ Pass rate to the fare.

I did not overcharge because every passenger knew I did not have a EZPASS so we had an understanding no passenger called and complained so why does TLC care this city is money hungry. HOW CAN YOU HAVE A GUY AS A TLC COMMISSIONER THAT DOES NOT KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT DRIVING A CAB!! HE BELONGS ON THAT SHOW UNDERCOVER BOSSES. I WANT THIS GUY TO DRIVE A CAB FOR ONE SINGLE DAY SO HIS BLIND EYES CAN OPEN UP. And for the comment that states that I should not have driven that cab, then how was I able to put food and pay my bills because I was 19 at that age and nobody was giving me a chance along with the fact that any car I saw did not have a EZPASS tag. I don't own the car why should I be responsible Nor was I the primary driver that it was leased too. If this is such a big rule to obey or go by then why does TLC not provide EZPASS tags in every car then the problem would be solved NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. BUT WE CAN HAVE A GPS AND AN ANNOYING TV IN THE BACK YET THEY CAN'T PROVIDE A EZPASS TAG.....LAUGHING MY A OFF. Yet they want to fine the driver that makes $100 a day but not the OWNERS OF THE CAR THAT MAKE $100,000 A WEEK.

EZ pass or Cash. they just don't want to miss out any opportunities to slaugther taxi driver for $30,000 fine or reduce fine. TLC is not on the drvier side. by the way, do you guys ever heard or read any news on garage violation and fine tens of thousand of dolloars? I am just being curious.
Ahmad25 (9 Posts) 12/19/2011 7:39:38 AM	Re: TLC is robbing me without a gun wait this also hapened to me a few months ago...the only difference was that the bar wouldnt go up and the red light remained so the cop came up to me and told me $6.50...the passenger had no cash so i had to pay for it...i added 6.50 to the meter and the passenger knew everything...so will TLC persecute me for this? if so what can i do to prevent any p4roblems?
