regarding Tax form 1099-K
This is the first time I receive form 1099-k from my garage, is the number in BOX 1 (gross amount of merchant card/thirs party network payments) represents the amount I made on just CREDIT CARD fares? or that's the total money I made for the year (credit+cash fares) ? do I deduct the rent and gas from this amount?

Watch out!! Its here andcoming to you soon! This should serve a lesson to those who think they candrive taxi without paying taxes. TLC may not report your income but credit cardpayment recipients like garages and other third party organizationswho file taxes can report payments made to you with 1099 forms to reduce theirown taxable income. Moreover, TLC cannot report your earnings but can be ordered to do so with acourt subpoena; for example, a family court for child support amongothers. The days for paper log trips are gone – electronic trip loggingis here – big brother watching you.

Re: regarding Tax form 1099-K
you income is the money you made for yourself and not the lease and gas and mta and credit card surchages you paid for other companies .if you work six days a week for the whole year and you make 300 dlrs tolal each days your gross income is 86400 dlrs a year. if your lease is 850 drs /w and your gas is 300 dlrs a week and mta and credit card surchages is 100 dlrs then your expensses are 60000 dlrs a year. so the driver gross income is 26400 dlrs.this income only if you work 6 days a week for the 12 month and 4 weeks a month. from here yo have also to deduct your related job expenses like food and cofee and water you buy on each shift and transportation .wich comes around 30 dlrs a day .12000 dlrs a year, you deduct that from your driver gross income wich is 26400-12000 =14400. if you lost time in trafic and unpaid fairs you got like 40 dlrs a day lost wich makes 9000 dlrs a year then your net income is 5400 dlrs .the average drivers makes 220 dlrs a day as gross total income. drivers dont get even a minimum wages for the first 40 hours of work per week .wich is stolen by medallion system banks who issue credit for people to buy medallions must be brought to justice because they destroy the driver way of life and destroy his income and his minimum wages.because within 12 hours we get 24 of 30 minute .and each 30 minute takes one passenger.all drivers have 24 passengers as averages .if you push the lease higher the the driver must pick up more people or pay from his own packet. where to drivers .wheeeeeeeeeeeeeer to

trafic lost time are deductible ,because you paid your lease in advance wich comes around 30 dlrs an hour during rush hours, meals and drinks wich is related to your work and not paid by your medallion owner also deductible. if you take day off and paid your lease in that day ,those days off are 100 percent deductible. car service inside yur garage ,time lost ,deductible. dont forget to mention your hourly income and in case your hourly income is less the state minimum wages then you can hire a lower against your medallion owner to pay you the rest.if your hourly income is 5 dlrs and ny state minimum wages are 9 dlrs then your medallion owner must pay you 4 dlrs for each hour your worked, but you have to provide evidence that your medallion owner has overestimated the driver income.good luck you dont need receipts for food water and cafee.you eat two sandwiches 20 dlrs plus water and caffe 5 dlrs so its 25 dlrs. but this year try to use your credit card for anything related to your job. uncolected fairs and fake money from people also deductible.

Re: regarding Tax form 1099-K
My friend, Transmission; you are a Taxi driver and not a tax expert. Thisis not a good advice to anyone here. It's advisable for those who want to filetaxes to consult a tax expert. There are many experts out there proving freeservices. Find out from your local Library or Google for such information.
Generically speaking, business expenses for a taxi driver includes, parkingticket, tolls, car wash, gas, lease, repairs, MTA pass and all expenses relatingto your making whatever you made from driving. If you took a taxi home because your taxi breaks down on theturnpike, that could be a legitimate expense incurred in the course of doingbusiness.
But hear it from the horse’s mouth and hold him accountable should he file thewrong information. Documents you file today may come back to hunts you. So, forfew dollars less than couple of JFK trips don’t let that happened to you. Doyourself a favor and consult a Tax expert; don't take my word for it; 12 hoursshift involves lots of abuse from owners, passengers, other drivers, police anda health hazard – so don’t compound the problem with more frustrations from UncleSam.

Re: regarding Tax form 1099-K
do you know that in new york city some people making millions and not pay taxes and some of them collect food stamp do you know that a taxi driver has no benefit or heath care.do you know that a taxi driver works 70 hours a week without overtime pay or sick days ,do you know that the average age for taxi drivers is55 years old ,who cares if you got sick .what you have to give more for the city .why are we scared for no reason.do you beleive you can survive in new york city with your taxi income today .we slave ourselves and and try to give money that we dont make. do you know that garages and brokers are overestimated the driver income and charging him a deadly lease.do you know your garages and brokers collecting illegale money on behalf drivers from insurances.i dont understand why drivers are brainwashed .keep this in your mind all the time, the city need you 24/7 in the street for your whole life in order for anyone never be late to his destination. if the driver is starved ,the city runs.this tactic applies to all cities around the world.we dont pay you to go home but we pay you to stay working.

Re: regarding Tax form 1099-K
To all you cab driver who wants to know about 1099. I've been doing this for years and know the in and outs of the tax preparations. I'm also educated and have accounting degree dealing with taxes. Anyways, whatever transmission told you is false and you'll be reviewed by the IRS if you actually report all those thing. Also as a driver you can't claim money back from medallion owners if you make less than minimum wage because you're an independent contractor and that's the reason why you guys have to file 1099. Ok what you can file for is Lease, Gas, If you travel to work (Metrocard,Driving to pick up the car miles, bus fare, or Etc..), Mta Surcharge, 5% fee on credit card, and Cell phone bills (half of the cost because you use it for business purpose to call other driver or medallion owner). Those are the most items you can claim for but if you have any other question please feel free to ask and I'll answer as much as I can. Also, find a accountant is that specifically good with taxi drivers because they know the in and outs of the business and deductibles.

Re: regarding Tax form 1099-K
There is one accountant that most cab drivers go to and he's really good at it. He's been in this business for years with drivers. His office is located at 47th or 48th street on 10th avenue. His name C. Frankel.
