Accident, fleet requiring me to pay...
Hi,
I had a car accident. Police report says, that the yellow cab fault. Fleet requiring me to pay for all damages and other party damage. Somebody from fleet told me that sometimes in such accidents fleet requires 50% of damage to be covered by a driver if his fault.
Have anybody been in accident with a yellow cab? How does the system work in this case, please advice....
Thank you

You dont have to pay a penny in case of accident. The fleet should have liability insurance that covers other vehicles damage. The owner should have full insurance to cover the car you are driving. If he doesn't have insurance then its his problem. he should pay for repair.. if you are injured, the owner should pay for hospital bills..

Re: Accident, fleet requiring me to pay...
They have already posted 1000$ as due in their fleet computer. It's something like insurance deductible etc.... I wish I would had a good knowledge about all these to understand and protect myself. Before giving a car they gave me paper where I signed "Lease"... I think I did a big mistake signing without reading and having a copy of fleet lease..
The other party preparing case with lawyers against me... it would be better to cut my finger then to lose hard earned money and work rest of life paying to somebody...

Ummmm Sorry to say, but you are totally WRONG. Fleet has liability coverage no matter what even if its your fault you don't have to pay a penny to the other vehicle. However, you must pay the full damages to his vehicle or it depends on his insurance plan. So you must find out his insurance plan to see whats the deductible or penalty for this insurance. If anything like that you need proof from the fleet company of there insurance. If they won't supply anything to you then you'll be better off with an attorney.

In insurance policy terms, a deductible is the amount of money which the insured party must pay before the insurance company's own coverage plan begins. In practical terms, insurance companies include a deductible in their policies to avoid paying out benefits on relatively small claims. A typical auto insurance policy, for example, may carry a $500 deductible. If the owner of that car accidentally hits another car while parking and both drivers agree the damage is minimal, he or she would pay the $500 repair bill out of his or her own pocket. Insurance companies would not encourage a claim for such minor damages. cal tlc and let them send you a definition of an auto accident document for a taxi driver then give it to your lawer.dont pay a pennyyyyyyyyyyy

Re: Accident, fleet requiring me to pay...
You need to get a copy of the lease you signed. If the lease clearly states that you are responsible for the deductible, you are. The TLC rule states that it must be clearly and prominently stated in the lease what you are responsible for
As for the other party suing you, do you mean that the other party insurance company is writing you? If so, don't answer them and give them any information. If they sue, they will also sue the taxi owner too and if that happens then the taxi insurance includes the driver. The insurance company lawyer should represent you at no cost to you, not out of the goodness of their heart but to protect themselves as well.
